Nigeria is currently going through an economic breakdown, ,no jobs, no benefits from the government, the streets are full of unemployed graduates. Daily, Nigerians are falling into a cactus of  depression. The best option with the way things are going presently is to start your own business.. When it comes to starting a business, a lot of people are lost with a lot of questions like what can I do ? where should I start from? How much money do I need to start a business..?  How much profit will i make etc.

The truth is no one can predict if a business will be successful or not, and just because you started a business with high capital does not mean you will yield high profit or you started with low capital, you will yield low profits either, which is why I have written ten business ideas to consider with low capital in Nigeria presently.

Time is constant, things can change at anytime, but for this segment of Now You Know (NYK) , I will discuss about a few in the paragraphs below

BREAD DISTRIBUTION     

I have realized Nigerians love eating bread, but i cannot blame them, bread makes you filled up in no time,lol.. There are a number of bread suppliers, and the types varies from slice bread to whole bread, butter bread to wheat bread etc. The next move is to visit their bakery and negotiate, do not be scared, no one said you should hawk the bread on your head, you cant rent a shop, a spot or if you have a car or bus, load the bread in it and sell at the bus stop.   

ICE BLOCK 

Nigeria is a country that is blessed but unfortunately has poor electricity supply, in other words do not usually have light! Our country is hot and we like to take cold drinks and cold water most times, this is where the suggestion of ice block comes in. If you have a lot of money, you can buy an ice block making machine but if not, start as a retailer and buy ice blocks from these people who makes the block. To preserve the ice block, you can either keep it in a cooler, in a freezer (if you have one) or keep it in a sack and tight the tip of the sack with a rope. Your target are the drink and water sellers , even people who want to do small parties will patronize you.

LIQUID SOAPS 

Liquid soaps are a substitute for detergents and it is hygienic and affordable. This requires you having knowledge on how to make liquid soaps and chemicals though, but the good part about it is you can learn how to make washing soaps for plates, Izals, Hand wash, even Home-made sanitizers (which is trending now, because no one wants to get the covid virus!). The next step is to get customers, you can advertise your brand to schools, clinics, markets, factories and even malls, and you might get lucky and become their sole supplier.

EGGS

Eggs gives protein and serves many purposes; it can be used for baking pastries, making ice cream etc, it also serves as meal. If you want to start your business, you have to go to an egg depot to buy crates of eggs, the quantities of eggs you buy will determine if you want to start at a retail level or wholesale level. 

SOAPS AND CREAM MAKING

This has something in common with Liquid making because you have to acquire knowledge on how to make it. A lot of people want to look good and have clear skin, after all ,that is the trend these days, it is all about looking good, almost every girl wants to look like Kim Kardashian. 

PONMO

I know what you are wondering, "who wants to sell that smelly ponmo". Ponmo is a lucrative business that gives a lot of profit. The most important thing is to sun dry it properly in order to prevent it from getting moist and spoilt. Your target is to sell to food canteens, hotels, markets etc.

SELLING COOKED NOODLES 

This sounds funny but cooking noodles is not a joke. Creativity too is an advantage here for instance you can stir fry your noodles, you will be amazed how many customers you will get. You can cook yam and sauce by the side to attract more customers and add any other item to the menu. It could be sold as take away or in a shop, either way you prefer.

SHARWARMA

Sharwarma is a quick pastry almost every one enjoys, all you need is to learn how to make it and be creative by adding your own recipe. You can either rent a spot or sell at a shop, anywhere you prefer. It is also an added advantage if you do home deliveries.

MAKING AND SELLING OF WIGS

Once upon a time, wigs were seen mostly on old women or on women who do not have hair on their head. Time has changed now, most ladies love wearing wigs, it is fast to wear and cheap to maintain. The only thing is you have to learn how to make it, once you have learnt, you can sell online or in a store, or in the market.

Yes! No need to go to the bank to withdraw or save  your money. After registration  (from any of the companies you prefer to partner with) the next step is to rent a spot, shop or anywhere you prefer . We cannot do without making transactions, therefore money is very important. The amount of money you have with you will determine the amount of money you will use to start your business.
